Only You Can Decide When It’s Time To Turn Your Life Around

by Neil Morecraft

For many of us, there comes a time in our lives when we start to reflect on the past and think about deciding about our future. Some call it a ‘crossroads’ and that description usually fits the bill. You may be in your mid 20’s or perhaps late 40’s, it doesn’t really matter. What is important is that you have had an experience or epiphany that has caused you to take stock. Sometimes we reach this point after getting married or having our first child, for others it may take a near death event that stops us in our tracks. Whatever your trigger, you will know that it’s time to start coming to terms with everything you have achieved and wish to attain in the future. This article discusses a few ways that can help you to focus your mind on what happens next.

It’s Your Choice

If you look back on your adult life and see things that upset you, write them down and spend a little time visualising what actually happened. The thing to bear in mind is that no matter what transpired, you always had the choice to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’. Blaming others for your misfortune is the habit of weak fools, you are better than this and you know it! We can learn from our mistakes and remember that not everyone has the chance to mend their ways. Take advantage of this good fortune and do your best to take control of your future.

Be Positive

It may seem a bit obvious and even a little cheesy, but if you start to attack even the most basic chores with a spring in your step, you will do a much better job. There is no point in giving 50% to the matter in hand, and you may as well not bother. It has been proven that people who apply themselves fully to everything they do will be perceived as individuals who can be trusted to take on bigger tasks. A smile cost nothing but can make someone’s day a much nicer place to be!

Be Selfish – Seriously

After you have decided to change your ways and improve your life for the better, you will need to adopt a very rigid mind set. It is very easy to fall back into old habits and pretty much forget about your new leaf. For a considerable while, you will need to shut yourself off from things and places that you used to frequent – it’s the only way!

Leave Detritus Behind

It is inevitable that your old friends will be less than pleased that you have decided to improve yourself and some of them may chide you for this turnaround. You have to be strong and shut them off completely, they will soon get bored and you will be free to continue your journey. After a while you will start to forget they ever existed, and that’s a good thing!

Welcome To Your Future!

Make no mistake, it will be extremely hard and not many people are capable of making this change. Just remember that you are special and deserve so much more from your 80 plus years on this wonderful planet!
