I Am Afraid, But Want To Show My Talent

What if you have a really awesome talent and you're afraid to show that talent but you want to show your talent every day?

Dear melanie,

I am so happy for you and for the talent that have the privilege of possessing and sharing!

You know what I have discovered about you? You are human!

Being afraid is a normal feeling, especially when your talent is meaningful to you and you desire to do your best. The fear can be helpful in motivating us to strive to do our best and to prepare as much as possible for the demonstration of that talent.

It is also wonderful that you want to demonstrate that talent every day. Even if something comes easy to you, in this talent, it is important to practice it and hone your skill. Even if you are the best dog petter in the world, if you practice you can become that much better at your skill of petting and grooming dogs. In the same way, the more we practice and spend time with our talent, the better we become, and the more confident we become and the less scared we tend to be, in performing or sharing that talent.

Now that we have practiced our talent, relax! When I am on stage, I think about sharing with my audience and how much I really, truly enjoy connecting with my audience. I love music and I love performing, and I am fortunate because I don't suffer from stage fright. But, you know what? Sometimes, I think that I may forget the words to a song. Yes, me! So, you know what I do? I relax and realize that I am human and it is that human that is sharing with the audience and you know what happens? I am able to perform my talent that much better! But, the key is to cut yourself some slack and to realize that the sharing of your talent is just that, sharing of your talent and not an absolute that it be 100% perfection. If that were the case, we would build a robot and the robot could do it perfectly. But, it would not be you and your essence, which is the most important part of your talent.

hugs,
